Transitions in Israel's Policymaking Network

This article discusses the transition from the cohesive, highly integrated policy community that governed Israel till 1977 to the beginnings of the scattered, dispersed, loosely integrated policy issue network that we see in Israel today. It provides an overview of the main actors and features of the two networks and traces the course of the demise of one and the emergence of the other. It ends with a look at how the atomization inherent in a loose policy issue network has given rise to the conflicts and uncertainties in Israel's current policymaking environment.
